FUNARI designed Agape Flor, the Resort 2023 collection to be hand made, vegan, and eco-luxury couture. Her unique designs are one of a kind, with material imported from Italy. For people who like to travel in style, these outfits are perfect. They’re wrinkle free and easy to pack into your suitcase. Thinking about where your next vacation will be? Get ready for your next vacation!
The Runway 7 Fashion show took place during New York Fashion Week at Sony Hall, in the heart of Manhattan and it was packed! There was no shortage of energy as the audience got to enjoy watching 15 fashion dogs walk down the runway with their matching outfits. Janelle FUNARI designed her pup couture to be worn whereever you are traveling.
Nothing can stop FUNARI. Getting the collection “runway ready” was no walk in the park. From supply chain issues to making sure the fashion dogs were able to walk the runway, this was one of the most challenging collections. With everything going on in the world right now, like factories closing down, having major delays in the delivery of the fabrics and COVID-19 going around, Janelle was able to pull off the line in only a few weeks!
“We’re powerful, we’re resilient and we know how to get it done”Janelle FUNARI
Not only is the clothing unique, but so are the models. FUNARI had both celebrity Kimberly Brown, the daughter of football player Jim Brown and celebrity DJ Spinderella walk the runway. Kimberly and fashion dog Maxine the Frenchie opened the show with matching outfits. Kimberly wore a flamingo ruffled skirt paired with a modern day styled equestrian jacket and plunging neckline. DJ Spinderella closed the show with her dog, in a very stylish, modern and eco-luxary black and blue outfit. Watch Janelle tell the story of how she got DJ Spinderella to close the show in the 2nd part of our interview!
Fashion has power. From celebrities to fashion dogs, designer Janelle FUNARI is using her voice to showcase her unique designs and her unique models. Her spring 2023 collection, Agape Flor, is eco-couture, vegan and one of a kind pieces.
Designer Janelle Funari is fierce, brave and blazing the path making unisex couture clothing for both owner and pet. She designed unisex jackets and pants that can be worn on your next vacation! She also designed one size fits all designs for all different body types.
Which came first the human outfit or the dog outfit?!
Janelle : When I began the line, I started with making the dog couture pieces as I knew they could be more complicated and take much more time for me since they were couture. My first piece was a dress for English bulldog, Cardi B. I made the sketch, the drape and loved how it came out!
I usually hang the garments on the working form to check the fit when I completed them. I realized that I didn’t have one this big for this size dog. It was just too big. So my seamstress was like, let’s just hang it on the mannequin in the meantime and I agreed. She hung it on – I walked in and was shocked to what my eyes were seeing? We both started to laugh! 🤣🤣 The design and style was the same measurement as a human!!!
I decided to change my design for the model and created a mini ME dress to go with it!
We photographed the dog’s actual dress on a human at our shoot – it was a cool and edgy look! It looks amazing with black leather leggings! This is the magic of creation and stepping out your comfort zone.
When I work, I am guided by a higher power and this was definitely one of those moments when my heart sang! For me, I know it’s a sign that this is exactly where I need to be and when I follow my heart, magic will happen.
The bulldog inspired me to make the amazing style for humans!
Which came first?! The Human outfit or the doggie outfit?
Eco-couture, vegan, and one of a kind.
