From Fashion Shows to Face Masks: Fashion Designer Luis Machicao is Making Masks From T-Shirts

While some of us are doing our own quarantine projects, Fashion Designer Luis Machicao decided to take matters into his own hands and create stylish face masks from T-shirts! Luis is a powerhouse. He can create anywhere from 40-90 masks a day….all by himself. All he needs is his sewing machine, a bunch of T-shirts and his creative eye. In his first 2 weeks of creating masks, he sold 2,500 masks. Healthcare workers from a New York Hospital reached out to Luis and he sent them masks. I am so proud and impressed by Luis’s determination.

If you or someone you know would like to buy a mask, you can message Luis directly by messaging him on Facebook ( Luis Machicao ) or through Instragram @LMachicao. The profits will be used to buy more supplies to make his masks.

Here are some of Luis’s couture face masks:

“Just that fact that you can help people and save lives…that is so rewarding. That’s better than any fashion week, that’s better than any ad in a fashion magazine. YOU have the ability to save lives.”- Luis Machicao
