I met up with model Darien Willardson in the middle of New York City to find out what he loves about the holidays! Between all the holiday festivities and decorations, New York City is such a beautiful place to celebrate the holidays. Fun fact: Believe it or not, I was really excited that it was snowing in the background during our interview. What better way to feel swept away by the spirit of the holidays as the snowflakes start to fall?
“If you want to be somebody, never give up and always be true to yourself.”- Natali Pillgrim
I love model Natali Piligrim’s piece of advice – “If you want to be somebody, never give up and always be true to yourself.” As a fashion blogger, I am always faced with different challenges. One of them is time. Since I conduct a lot of interviews with fashion models from all over the world, my calendar can fill up pretty quickly. Sometimes it can be hard to find time to schedule an interview. So when Natalie and I had to keep rescheduling our interview, we were patient with each other. We just had to keep on trying to find a time that worked for the both of us. I stayed true to myself and never gave up.
I was so happy when we finally sat down to chat! We spoke about her personal fashion experience as a model, her challenges and what makes her unique.
“If you want to be somebody, never give up and always be true to yourself.”- Natali Pillgrim
Here is our interview:
Jenny A. (Me): What was your craziest modeling experience?
Natali Pillgrim: When I did an underwater photo shoot. I had to stay underwater, keep my eyes opened and look both comfortable and hot. Did I mention, I don’t know how to swim!?
Me: How did you do an underwater photo shoot if you can’t swim?!
Natali: Using my imagination plus my strong belief that everything is possible. There was a pole that I could held onto in the water, just in case (laughs). From time to time, I had to grab onto the other models who were in the photo shoot with me…just to breathe. (laughs)
Me: What was it like to pose underwater?
Natali: It was hard to stay still. (laughs) The heavy dress kept pulling me up!
Me: As a model, what do you think is the biggest challenge?
Natali: To believe in yourself. Just because a designer tells you that you’re not good for a show or their clothes, don’t give up. It is just one person’s opinion.
Me: What do you think makes a successful model?
Natali: Someone who (a) never gives up (b) learns from their mistakes / experiences (c) is social and (d) always listens. Even if someone tells you are good, always keep practicing and growing.
Me: Where did you learn to model?
Natali: I learned through YouTube tutorials and videos, I looked at other model’s photos and asked people with more experience. Some photographers are very helpful and will guide you. Never be afraid to ask what you did wrong. It’s better to ask a question and look like a “fool” for five minutes rather than keeping silent and looking like a “fool” for your whole life. It’s very important to work as a team and communicate with your photographer. You can learn faster and have better results by working together with your photographer.
Me: Which fashion shows have you modeled for?
Natali: I was a part of last year’s FIT fashion show called “4 elements.” It was amazing! It was my first experience as a runway model and I grown a lot from then. There were so many talented students. I really enjoyed it and I am so thankful. When I was a part of NYFW ( Couture Fashion Week ), I was so impressed and happy with my designer, Pamela. It took her a several weeks to make each swimsuit. I also modeled in Tech Fashion Week, Brooklyn Fashion Week and many more.
Me: I noticed that you have a nose ring and a lip ring. Have your facial piercings ever affected your modeling career?
Natali: When I walked for New York Fashion Week, I took out both my nose ring and my lip ring since the fashion show wanted a more conservative look. Depending on the fashion event, some people don’t care about piercings or even want a punk rock look.
What do you live your life by?
Natali: My greatest inspiration is Leonardo da Vinci’s quote “Realize everything is connected to everything else.” If you want to be successful, you have to learn a little bit of everything each day.
Me: What do you like to do for fun?
Natali: I like to dance, travel, walk around and explore the city. I also like rafting and indoor ski diving.
Me: If you could be a fruit of vegetable, what would you be?
Natali: Broccoli because it is unique, healthy and makes you feel good.
Me: When’s your next fashion show?
Natali: I am modeling for the FACE THE SWEET FASHION SHOW 2017. It is a charity event to help raise money for diabetic supplies for people who have suffered from the effects of 2017’s natural disasters. The show will be held this Saturday, November 18th in New York City. For more information, please click here.

“Brand in Demand” – The fashion world is starting to notice model Lisa Franco as she makes a name for herself as a model.
Lisa’s goals are (1) to be featured in a magazine and (2) to be an ambassador model.
The secret to keeping her young looking is her miracle water – Kangen Water. It’s the only thing she drinks and simply can’t live without it! When Lisa’s dog had arthritis, she gave her dog miracle water and it helped cure her dog.
No pain. No gain. Lisa goes to the gym 5 days a week working out on the StairMaster, the Elliptical, and using some weights. You can find her getting pumped up at a kickboxing or hip-hop class.
She shared that her biggest accomplishment is having her own house and raising her wonderful son, Michael Cerasani whom she is very close to. Fun Fact: her son was a cast member on season 5 of MTV’s reality TV show “Are You the One?” where he fell in love with a girl on the show and moved to Texas.
Lisa loves a little adventure. She’s gone boating and zip lining. She has even swam with the sharks, dolphins, eels & stingrays! She likes to relax by the pool, take a swim, and walk on the beach under the hot sun. Her dream vacation spots are Tahiti & Greece.
What is Lisa really like? She is a down to earth, sweet and very friendly model who is not afraid to approach people.
If she could be a fruit or vegetable, she would be a watermelon because it is refreshing and sweet (but not too sweet).
Lisa modeled for the Unique Blend Models fashion shows.
The first time I saw model Sergio Delavicci (A.K.A Gio) was when he walked the runway at Couture Fashion Week back in February. He was modeling for designer Vanno Fashion wearing an emerald green jacket, black pants with a matching black hat. I was impressed with how Gio was able to capture the audience with his fierce walk. I really wanted to introduce myself but I didn’t get the chance to.
6 months later I’m watching the Unique Blend Models fashion show and guess who I see walking down the runway?!
I told myself no matter what, this time I am going to introduce myself… and that’s exactly what I did. After the show, I found him speaking to a photographer while holding the bunch of red roses. When I told him I recognized him from Couture Fashion Week, he gave me a rose.
Jenny A. (Me): What is your favorite part of being a model?
Gio: It’s inspiring and motivating. It gives me an opportunity to travel, meet different people and open doors for muscular models with tattoos such as myself. I love the energy and the feedback I get from the crowd when I walk on the runway. I get excited whenever a designer tells me that someone wants to buy their clothes because they saw me wear them.
Me: What do you think about when you’re on the runway?
Gio: I really don’t think about it. I just have fun doing it. I’ve been modeling for a long time and at this point, it comes naturally. It’s all about selling the clothes and I enjoy doing it.
Me: What is your biggest challenge in the modeling world?
Gio: I’m not a big fan of wearing makeup. Also, sometimes my modeling schedule interferes with my acting schedule.
Me: Random question… Who is your favorite Disney character?
Gio: I love Mickey Mouse because he’s positive, popular and always happy.
Me: What is something that is interesting about you?
Gio: I am Channing Tatum’s stunt double! I am also an actor, a boxer, a masseuse and a tennis trainer. Recently, I was also in a Steven Spielberg movie, Nor’ester.
Me: If you could be a fruit or vegetable, what fruit or vegetable would you be?
Gio: A watermelon. I like the fact that it’s healthy, juicy and good for your immune system.
Me: Is there anything else you wanted to share?
Gio: I’m very poetic, romantic and very spiritual.
This year Gio walked the runway for New York Fashion Week, Miami Swimwear Fashion Week, Atlantic City Fashion Week, Bronx Fashion Week, Fashion on the Hudson and Rainbow Fashion Week. He was voted as the Top Male Model of the Year during Atlantic City Fashion Week 2017.
Have you ever wondered what it is like to have your makeup done by a professional makeup artist? One of my best friends, Gabriella Golan is a professional makeup artist! She has done makeup for celebrities, TV shows and models. I was so excited when she agreed to do my makeup for a family event.
Before any runway show, there is usually a whole team of makeup artists applying, brushing and touching-up each model. I’m really not a huge makeup person but I was blown away by Gabriella’s work. Whenever I do wear makeup, I’ll usually put on a little bit of eyeliner and lipstick.
I told Gabriella that I wanted a very natural look. She laid out all of her makeup on the dining room table for me. There was so much to chose from! There were so many foundations… eye shadows… lipsticks… I felt like a model getting ready for the runway! She mixed different colors together on a palette to get the perfect combination for my complexion.
I’ve never wore fake eye lashes but Gabriella convinced me to try some individual lashes. She glued each lash onto my lash line to give my eyes a fuller look. I felt like I didn’t even have to smile because she made my lashes curl upwards which made it look like my eyes were smiling.
We chatted about our families, boys and all the exciting things going on. It was so much fun! When she finished, she spritzed my face to keep the makeup in place so it wouldn’t smudge. I looked in the mirror and was completely awestruck by her work. I loved the way she was able to transform my face into looking like a professional model.
The Final Results:
Thank you so much Gabriella! Love you!
