FIT’s Fashion Design Competition at the Macy’s Flower Show 2021

It’s that time a year again when Macy’s turns their flagship store into a gorgeous ‘oh so fabulous’ garden. This year’s theme is the Flowers of Fortitude. Perhaps in light of most recent events this is exactly what we need… Fortitude. To be brave. To be strong. I cannot say there is one person that I know who hasn’t been affected by the most recent events of 2020. Including, the events of this year. However, now is the chance that we can come together to create what one might call a bridge.

Basking Butterfly Bridge

As a New York City fashion blogger, standing in front of the bridge, I couldn’t help but feel the emotional and political pull from each side. Maybe it’s time for a new type of bridge. And who knows better about creating their own conversations and bridges then designers?!

That being said, I was in awe of these three special designs which were made by 3 fabulous fashion designers…who are students FIT. I admire their work and the message behind each piece. Here they are:

1. Connected at the Core, Cocktail Dress

“We are like petals of a flower- different sizes and shapes that all share a connection” – Fatma Eroglu

2. The Sound of Hope, Gown

“ Bright colorful spring flowers play beautiful music of hope” – Eunjung Lee

3. Wishing upon a Dream, The Dress

“ The atmosphere of spring, beauty and dreamy, makes people feel better”

If you’re in New York and you haven’t had a chance to go to the Macy’s Flower Show, you still have until May 16! If you’ve been to the show, drop a comment down below and let me know 🙂

Love always,
